Night Owls – Better With Age

Leeds trio Night Owls have thrown out another grunge pop track ‘Better With Age’ into the big wide socially critical world. This is their second punishing cut from their ‘Tragically Human’ EP due for release next month. The track is a whole heap of sounds all aiming for you to come away with a message in mind taking you away with a whole meaning as to what social media actually means. The track aggressively snarls dripping with hate for modern day technology yet the sounds themselves incorporates experimental electronic influences within their distinctive sound, whilst retaining their boundless energy and trademark vocals to sublime effect.

Better with age

Discussing the track, the band stated: “Better With Age is a commentary on this generation’s obsession with social media and how people portray their lives through rose-tinted filters online. It’s written from the perspective of someone who’s become addicted to social media and how it’s become addictive”. Night Owls latest outfit fits perfectly within the times and what the world has turned into with every element of life becoming ‘intsagramable’ rather than savoured. With tracks like ‘Better With Age’ carrying you away to a whole new place, they have managed to score several slots. Supporting the likes of Cloud Nothings, Yuck and Tigercub already ticked off alongside an appearance at Reading & Leeds Festival, the band’s burgeoning live reputation is sure to develop further in the coming months with live dates across the UK.
