BOYS – Hollywood

Boys. Some think of their best friend and some think of them as a whole different species yet to be decoded, not these boys though. Dream pop quartet Boys release their luxurious new track ‘Hollywood’. Built with every element of a crafty indie track they wave into a more lo-fi and laid-back beach vibe with blissful, hazy soundscapes and evocative tones to kicking off 2018 in style. Having been written and recorded following the conclusion of their debut US tour last year, BOYS felt inspired and dug deeper into what they know and love about music to create an awesome track. ‘Hollywood’ captures the band’s creative tendencies in full flow with delicate tones and warm, fuzzy guitar work drawing images into the mind of the listener of a new lo-fi scene. Having formed in late 2014 they attracted widespread praise for their live shows and releases throughout 2017, the London foursome look set to step things up a gear this year with further new material and a series of gigs in the pipeline. Having already performed at some key London venues including The Old Blue Last and Moth Club, they plan on making 2018 their year after four years of being together.

Discussing their newest release, the band stated: “Having gained new experiences and ideas from the time we spent in the US together, whilst there we started talking about leaving behind our lives in London and starting a new one in Hollywood, even if it wasn’t a realistic idea”. Founded on a love and mutual appreciation of the lo-fi/shoegaze scene BOYS are taking their new ideas to a whole new level. You can clearly see the impact of the US tour had on the band and the way it’s shaping them to become a whole new group of people who love to make music. With Ross Pearce on vocals, Mike Stothard and Kane Butler both on guitar and Dan Heffernon on bass, I’m sure that their next tune will be influenced by their American trip.
